About Me

Hey Y'all!

Thanks for visiting Mountainside Designs Jewelry - I'm glad you're here!

Hey! I'm Amelia!

That's right, I'm Amelia, the creator and designer for all things Mountainside Designs

I currently reside in Bozeman, Montana where I love to ski and enjoy the beautiful outdoors. Originally I am from Asheville, North Carolina - another beautiful mountainous place. My obvious love of the mountains inspired my business name: Mountainside Designs, not only because I have a deep love of the mountains, but also nature and the outdoors in a more general sense. My surroundings have helped to spark my inner creative fire and inspire most of my designs.

How I got started

I'm proud to say that I am a self taught jewelry designer. Although it was hard at times to figure out techniques on my own, my many experiments and failures helped me develop a style all my own.

I began my jewelry making "career" by teaching myself how to wire wrap. I loved all the amazing wire wrapped jewelry I saw people wearing at many of the concerts I attended, and decided it was something I could figure out how to do myself! This sort of free flowing process allowed me to work with beautiful, naturally shaped crystals and gemstones.

Move to Metalsmithing

Eventually I was ready to expand my skill set and decided to learn how to solder. It made sense, as I always loved playing with fire :) My biggest inspiration here is the beautiful, traditional styles of the Navajo. I love working with turquoise and putting a modern, bohemian spin on traditional designs. I'm always pushing myself to learn new techniques and try out new designs so I can continue to further my craft.
